A new direction for this website
I got along without a “portfolio” for a long time! Sometimes landing a cool job with a comically simple 1-pager. But it’s time! So, I’ll do what I have all my students do - and design a system that does its job.
As of this date (September 8, 2026) - I’d never managed to keep up with a personal website and consistent blog like so many of the blogs I followed through the 2010s. I think there’s a certain personality that can focus on the thoughts / and sharing - and somehow avoid the urge to fold in every new thing they learn and flip the table every 3 months - but that wasn’t me at the time. I was always impressed with the CSS-Tricks site and how Chris kept things moving but also managed full theme overhauls.
Over the years I’ve typed a lot of words. I’ve answered 1500 Quora questions, a lot of Stack Overflow answers, just about everywhere you can think of - and an untold amount of forum questions and answers in Slack and Discord. I’ve written hundreds of workshops and hundreds more resources and exercises and stories for PE. I never thought I’d be a writer and I still don’t really think of myself as a writer / but I write! I just wish I’d spent some of that energy writing in one place. But now’s the time! I’ve got more thoughts than I know what to do with, so - maybe that’s the trick. I’ve got a great studio where I can just flick a switch and start recording when an idea strikes me. I’ve got all the gear I should ever need - so, here we go.
